Henry Förester - Henry Foerster
How it all began!
(Fall 1994) Having come from 4 years of operating a Bed & Breakfast (that could sleep 14) and a large extended family, moving back to a farm 6 miles out in the country (even with my family nearby) was just too quiet! So I made a call and arranged for a foreign student to spend the year living here and studying at Crookston Central High School. A thin, quiet 17 year old arrived by plane the next week. Henry soon integrated into our little community, and ingratiated himself to EVERYONE! In the year he was here (and the following 8 months)
(hey now it's been almost 10 years!) I have watched him develop from a boy to a Man. His graduation (May 1995) was one of the proudest days of my life and he made the honor roll both semesters.
We shared a memorable year. Lots of travel, including Amtrack to New York for a week, 2 weeks in California (we got bumped into 1st class on the airplane), and taking my motorcoach to Tennessee. Henry also went to Hawaii with a theater group. He was active in drama, and had a great role in
Godspell. Henry's parents and brother came to "pick him up" and we
had a great 3 weeks together.
I spent 2+ weeks in Berlin in January & February 1996 and had a great visit with Henry. He sees himself as an artist/photographer. Following are some pictures of himself,
and his work.
In the
winter of 97, Henry came to start University in America. After 1 semester
(straight A's I might add) the flood of 97 stopped his schooling. Back in
Berlin he received an internship to work at sat1 Television. That led to
another internship, then a contract to produce in hour promotional commercials,
and finally a full time position. He has been the recipient of 2 Pro-Max
awards for best film trailer. One of which carried my voice (what a
hoot!!).
In
July/August of 1999 I again returned to Berlin(and all of Germany). WHAT a
trip. It's almost a year since I returned and each day is still vivid in
my mind. Thanks to Henry's parents, we traveled from Berlin to the wine
region of the Rhine, Mossel and Nhar Rivers, Köln, Aaken, and then to the SE to
Munich and on the Salzberg Austria and back home to Berlin.
Henry was
in Minnesota for Christmas of 2001, it was so great to see him again! He
was here for his 25th birthday (sorry Henry but they can figure it out by your
graduation). What a day that was! I'm so proud of him, his accomplishments,
his nature!
(Thanksgiving Day 2003)
It's been quite a year. On Sunday I leave for my 4th trip to Germany THIS
YEAR. First in March and a whirlwind trip around the country trying to
visit everyone. Then most of July and more country to country/city to
city! Then in October just to visit #5 Frank while he's doing his year of
Social Service in Hamburg (rather than going into the military). But of
course I had to take just a little side trip, going to visit #6 Jan in Homberg,
and stopping by Frankfurt/Hofheim to meet and eat with #7 Fabian's family!
Now in just 3 days I leave for a week in Berlin. A quiet time spent with
Henry at his new apartment, right in the CENTER of Berlin! Henry now works
for a division of Sat1 TV which is called Seven Senses. He continues to
produce commercial packages for Sat1 along with custom work for other clients.

Welcome visitor #
The artwork of Henry Förster. Whether clay, painting, photography or video, Henry has a unique eye for bringing out emotion. Here are samples of his work in various mediums.
My Christmas Gift '96. Tittled "es in Ruhe überlegen." Viewable from 360 degrees, this is the more modest side-as a reflection of the 90's. In English - "to have a quiet thought"
My Christmas Gift '94. From above the frog is sitting on a lilly pad, with presents all around. I don't know where the "budda" frog idea came from, but I hope it wasn't how he pictured me back then ;-)
A spring gift from H. this is his representation of the house from the movie Psycho. We went to Universal Studios and in the last days of school, this is what came from the kiln. Notice the people in various locations.
Here are some of the photos H has sent from Germany.
"die Verlobung"-"The Commitment" One in a series of nine, the classic
"boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, they all live happily ever after" story.
"die erste umarmung"-"First Embrace" Will it be love, or a memorable weekend...here is where it starts.
Henry as most people in America remember him, long hair which changed color monthly.
